The Key To Anti-Ageing
Living Pure Australia is dedicated to healthy living and the attainment of optimal wellness. We pride ourselves on this philosophy as achieving a high state of health enables us to thrive in life, rather than just exist. We are proud of all Living Pure products for supporting wellness. However we are also delighted to advise that Living Pure Australia has facilitated a number of wellness initiatives, including combined health seminars with nutritional cooking demonstrations and tastings. One of the most popular was our anti-ageing wellbeing workshop held at our picturesque Docklands Waterfront location.
On Wednesday 8 March 2017 Living Pure Australia had the pleasure of hosting a wellbeing workshop for Living Pure friends and clients. The topic was ‘The Key To Anti-Ageing’ and it included a wellness discussion, presentation, cooking demonstration and tasting. We call it a food tasting but it’s really a full meal – we love healthy eating so it makes sense to offer health related information accompanied by a delicious feast.
The theme for this session was designed to empower rather than cast an ugly shield over ageing. Let’s be honest, ageing is a normal part of life and the old saying that age provides wisdom is certainly true. So, we are not attempting to reverse our biological age, our psychological maturity or intellectual capabilities. Rather the attainment of health throughout our life enables the deterioration of health and wellness – a usual byproduct of ageing – to be slowed.
The truth is there is no magic pill to Anti-Ageing. We are a product of our genes and lifestyle choices. Which one is the most prominent in influencing our health is not well understood. We may carry genes for certain adverse conditions, yet due to healthy living and smart lifestyle choices, do not display signs and symptoms for such conditions. The reverse is true also, we may have genes that are conducive to minimal illness and disease yet as a result of unhealthy choices such as poor eating and drinking decisions, we may enhance our risk and severity for many illnesses and conditions. Living Pure Australia believes in enjoying life; whilst making healthy choices to uplift and inspire inner wellness and a positive state of mind.
Let’s dive a little deeper into the event…
One of the most important nutrients the body requires for healthy ageing is the group called antioxidants. Antioxidants comprise thousands of nutrients that seek to reduce or stop inflammation within the body – inflammation is the cause of rapid ageing and ill health. Please note that a level of inflammation is normal within the body and it is not possible to completely eliminate it; there are natural inflammatory responses our immune system manages that are a normal part of living and breathing. However, like most things in life, when there is too much of something, damage may occur. As a result, including more antioxidants in our dietary intake can encourage a healthier body.
Antioxidants are very widespread in nature and they are contained in numerous foods. The most common are fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, herbs and spices. Living Pure is also delighted to share that our Living Pure honey range, in particular our Living Pure Manuka Honey, is naturally high in antioxidants.
So you see, it is very easy to eat plenty of antioxidants every day. However, what should be considered is that many antioxidants are susceptible to degradation, whereby their goodness and benefit is lost. One way to minimise this is by eating fruits and vegetables in season and at their peak: when their nutrients are the highest.
The presentation detailed and discussed what happens during the ageing process and how antioxidants can benefit this process. For example, antioxidants can protect the body against cell damage, supports the immune system fight infections, boosts the health of the immune system, encourages the body’s process of making new cells and regenerating old cells, encourages an efficient energy transport system around the body, helps cell walls stay strong and antioxidants also help the body product collagen which is a connective tissue that is important for the connective tissue in muscles, skin and bones. Like all good things, you can have too much, so eating the right amount is important. One way to ensure enough is consumed without going overboard is to eat food in its natural state and to eat high antioxidants foods regularly.
Including enough calcium, Vitamin D, good carbohydrates and quality protein in our diets is also important for healthy living and slowing down the impact of ageing. We briefly touched on this in our Healthy Living discussion and presentation, too.
The hero of the session was the delicious and nutritious Cacao Mess. A simple dessert that is so healthy it can also be eaten at breakfast or for a light snack to keep energy levels balanced, especially in the afternoon when it is common to experience an energy slump.
The cacao mess recipe was designed to offer something sweet, with nutrients that uplift the body’s resources so we can be the best we can be, whilst also supporting a healthy ageing process. The cacao mess recipe is one of our favourites also for the vibrant berries and the combination of cacao with Living Pure Manuka Honey.
Give it a go as a treat and also as a gift to your body.
